If you're using something like ImageShack,

ImageShack® - Register

as a free hosting site, there's options for different sizes of photos when you upload.
I just click on the one for "message boards" and they work out fine on several boards.
I must have a couple of hundred photos on there that are linked to different boards.

I'd add that as ImageShack does the resizing for you, your original photo can stay the same size.
Why I really added to this thread, is to add a general point about computers, to remind those who might not do it, is to save your photos in more than one place.
Mine are on my computer and also duplicated onto a separate hard drive, so a computer crash won't mean I could lose the lot.

Anything really confidential like financial stuff isn't even even on my computer, it's on the separate hard drive, floppies and memory sticks. So I'm not bothered about confidentiality if my computer ever has to go in for repair.
