Smile which valves?

hi which valves do you think are the most suited to controlling flow? eg would be ok left half open/closed

would it be a ball valve or the slide gate valve,

opinions will be appreciated

thanks guys

There`s not much difference between the 2 but it`s usually easier to see the set position with a ball valve. Best to fit the double fixing collar`s so that you can easily take it out for maintenance

Hi, from what I've read, ball valves are better for contolling water flow and the gate valves are used for total 'on or off' function, i.e. on the bottom drain and to waste.

Go with ball valves rather than slides, more expensive but wont let by in a yr or so!

i have slide valves and 1 of them ( 4" ) is letting water by when fully closed...i wish i had fitted ball valves, i think they give you better control over your flow rates or even if you want to completely shut them off..just my opinion.

Hi Guys,

Never put slide valves on any waste as they will let by sooner or later and you don't want the problem once all plumbed in. If you can go with a good quality double union ball valve and you want be disappointed

If possible you don't really want to be using valves to control the flow as this can also put pressure on a pump its best to match the pump to the system your running.
