Hi Guys and girls
Well my Show and Grow have been in the pond and I should have put them in the tank they look the same as they went in but there you go. The other thing is I don't think I would be able to catch them to take there photo

Hi Gazza... I agree, in particular the breeding... the bloodline is a much wider looked at thing nowadays and makes sense it is.
It's a hell of a thing to get my head into... in a novice way I will look at a breeder via google and see what their history etc is... but they don't have a sengle set of parents... In the lead up to the migoto-koi kohaku G & S I thought ok lets have a look at this breeder. Was a very interesting story, and gave me a 'feeling' for what he had done and what he produced. I kind of say that the ones me and my daughter chose are siblings... but probably they are 'half' siblings if I am right in thinking that a female will be put with maybe 3 males for spawning. Artificially for testing and development can be more focused on single parents I suppose.
What seems to be very true though in a general way is a general idea of what may be the development - heavy/light sumi body shape size etc. - then again that is the 'potential' that mere mortals like myself try to aspire to. Davej mentioned potential too, and 1 of the reasons I love G & S [apart from the social and general camaradarie and joshing as it progresses] is watching how each of us gets on, and had a thought that it might be interesting having a G & S with same fish over say 3 years.... be interesting to see if winner in year 1 is still winning in year 3 - not just talking growth here but moving along that 'potential' line.
Maybe we could have a reunion of G & S fish from years gone by .
Hope the post here staying on subject... it is about G & S I think... and my usual rambling thoughts prompted by the maestros .
ok here is my little Kujaku just a little update. when first posted on here it was 16cm now at 30cm im still pleased with how its looking and for a cheap fish i think i did well. (as you can see i've included the original photo as well)
Striking fish Pondy! Quality not quantity like me my mate .
Dave mate your growth is truly amazing, and the updates on the mako line have really got my interest as I posted on your thread, just shows how the Japanese are striving to improve and develop.
