Always difficult to see from a picture but Ill have a go
I don't think the fish has a frame for a big fish and being male its always hard to get them as big as the girls.
For me there is not enough white (shiroji) on the fish and it has a lot of Beni with no to much Sumi up the front part of the fish and at the moment there is no sign that any is going to come.
I cant see the quality of the skin from the picture or how good the Beni and Sumi are but we also have to remember this was not an expensive koi so in such we should remember that at the end of the day it is was it is and not a bad fish at all.
How will it do over a few years is another thing which is always hard to do but i think Billy the fish will continue to grow not massive but will fill out and be a good fish

ok for me firstly have you another pic dave maybe trying to show the skin quality etc... as it's not the best pic in the world. (lmfao i must have took it then).
alrighty then i'm guessing its a male with the slim body frame, pattern police would say the the peak on the head in the pattern is a little off central.
The sumi on Sanke normally starts on the back half of the koi and builds up forward as it matures.. but can't see alot of sumi coming through and at nisai would have expected to see a few speckles etc.
If this was to be a massive fish i would be hopeing to see a size of between 50 -60cm at Nisai but it still has time and probably being male it could get a fair size but its never going to reach 80+ maybe high 70's.
Like gazza i also like to see a little more white or shiroji in a sanke but beggars cant be a choosers its a cheap fish and if all the above were to be there it would 'nt be.
i would say to anybody looking to own this koi... if YOU like it and YOU think it will be a nice addition to YOUR pond. then Buy it. cause all said and done You need to look at it

Reason: cause im a dope!
it looks like it has a lot of potential for growth so i reckon it will probably be around 83-86cm with 4-5 years growth on it , i think its one of those deceptive koi that look male when young but turn out to be female when older, pattern wise i dont think it will change much perhaps a couple more spots of sumi towards the front. i like it and for £100 i think it was a good buy!
hope all is well mr dave

Me a champion Koi - in my dreams, the price is accurate as is the age in the photo.
I don't know the breeder but it's a Japanese fish that came from the Weston .
As to the sex, I don't know, never spawned or participated in spawning - it's been in the pond for nearly six years and only been out once for a quick topical when sliced it's head on the pond cover a few years back.
It's unassuming, doesn't do a lot, tends to hoover the bottom of the pond, still a very slim fish.
