Default Streamflow pond

This is my pond build started on April 23rd of this year, copied and pasted here as the thread was started on another forum. I will add the dates the posts where made so you get an idea of the progress.

Well, we have been in the new house for nearly two years now, so it's about time there was a pond here ;D

All the Koi, filters, pumps etc will be relocated here, the old pond will be kept up and running but will have something easier for my mother to look after, goldfish, orfe and maybe a couple of koi.

The plan is to build an exact copy of the original pond, but this time the pipework will be much neater as I now know how the system works, it will also be fully enclosed. The old pond has run like a dream for nearly five years now and I am more than happy with how it all works, so bring out the digger..

The tree has to go

And its gone!

Should squeze 6000g in here

Jig made for uplifts

2 of the 6 drains will go straight over the shower

measuring out

digger came on Thursday

done in time for tea

pipework spotted down

ready for the base

Base should be done next week sometime, and then on with the blockwork.

Well, 450 blocks moved and stacked ready for the brickie, he should be here on Thursday to make a start. Just need to put a tonne of sand, some cement and the mixer in the hole.

Blockwork will come up to ground level, and then he will return to finish it off when i've back filled it all.

Deep return pipework is done, a bit tricky this one, laser level used to get the right angles on the four pipes pushing towards the drains.

May 15th

This weekends progress has been slow due to the weather, but I have managed to get a bit done. I had 2 Tonnes of chippings spare so this has been mixed and used for backfilling, this has got me half way up the blockwork, the concrete guys will be finishing it off as this took me nearly all Saturday to do.

The 4 deep returns have been mortared in, the blockwork has been cut and the 3" side feeds have been fitted. I have sorced and ordered the sandstone for the front side, and had a good tidy up.

May 22nd

Well the heat wave arrived this weekend as promised... 50mph winds and nothing but rain lol, but it brightened up this afternoon. 8-)

So... I have been working in the pond under cover, all backfilled to ground level now ready for the brickie to carry on, he should be here mid week.

All the services are now in the garage, electric, gas and water, the gas and water was conected up on Saturday and tested.

Today I have done the cut outs in the posts ready for the joists to go in for the roof and concreted them in. The sandstone has arrived and been stacked ready for the brickie, and the new Koi Carp plaque has been done.

posts in (top cross beam just resting on for levels)

May 30th

Not much pond building gone on as the brickie has been held up on another job, he will be here this week to finish off tho.

In the meantime, I have moved the cobbles back in line with the posts and re flagged up to where the door will be into the pond area, all this has also been leveled ready for the internal floor to go down. I have started on the stonework inbetween the posts, this will be just under 2 foot high and then the windows will go in, not just yet tho.

I have drilled and sleeved the back of the garage ready for the water, heating pipes and armored cable to be run down the backside of the pond. All the wood for the roof has also been cut and notched out ready for the roof.

The spoil out of the pond hole has almost been lost around the bottom part of the garden, still a bit more to do but as you will see from the pics, a big improvement from what it was.

before, small retainer made to hold back the best part of 40ton

Hmmm, a bit more than I thought lol

looking better, the bottom has been raised by 3foot, need to fence the river off yet.
