I have seen many different designs of bakki showers but still not sure whats inside of it? If it is some kind of media or matting how do you clean it?
Noticed some models are screwed together.

hi carmen,

in my set up i use crystal bio or bio pore , same thing
ive got around 300lts , and i have a flow rate of 132,000lts per hour or 29,000 gallons per hour going straight over the top , as for cleaning , no such thing with a bakki !!!

this set up is made from 130l troughs off ebay for £29.99 inc p&p these are stacked ontop of each other using cut off corners of 50l rubs .

the only hard work in making this system is drilling all the holes in the bottom of each trough !!

my system , has a cover over it , i'l get a pic tomorrow

theres 3 main problems with a bakki , 1st they can be unsightly , 2nd they can chill the water in the winter , 3 rd the noise !! if you look at the flow on the far right , thats 3000gallons per hour , as its on its own pump from the surface skimmer , now compair that to the six other outlets , the noise from these is horrendous !!! so much so , i'm going to add another 15-1600gallons to raise the surface water , to cut the racket down .

Zee , this is the filter , as this is a growing on pond for my breeding stock the filtration has to be spot on , even at 3kg of food per day !!!
the good thing with the bakki system , is you can pump straight from the bottom drains , fish poo and other waste can just be put straight over the top . the down side to this , is clarity , to get round this i'm putting a protein extractor on there next week , as this will clear it up no end and remove DOC'ss ect .

this pond also has RO on it , had a few problems with a strange out come of having the filters sitting in the water , but growth has been good , kagura bloodline kohaku bought at 19cm , 6 months on is now 52cm !! and two godzilla bloodline shiros bought at 12cm , 3months on are now trying to push 25-26cm !!

o wow, thanks for the advice, sounds rocket science to me at the moment
your work looks very tidy. I tried to do a DIY filter for my pond vac the other day, lol, i cracked the plastic box, unclean cut and uneven number of holes as well, so i think i should stay clear the DIY ...
