Had the pond foam lined and fibreglassed today. Done by GRP Lining services ( Matt & Matt). Real nice guys and very professional. Well pleased with finished job. Here are some pics.

I believe the fibreglassers use foam instead of render on the concrete blocks as its faster setting and very easy to smooth off also it does act as an insulation and is generally about 1/2" to 1" thick
Your right Mik it is 1/2 inch thick. It just replaces rendering. The finish is only as smooth as the prep work carried out. I scraped all of the walls to make sure there was no lumps of cement protruding other wise it will take the contour of the protrusions. I went for it because any help in insulating the pond must be a good thing and the difference in price for the foam was minimal compared to having it rendered. Just personal preference really.

I would immagine it's a lot quicker & cleaner than rendering + with the thermal insulation properties. How is it fixed to the blockwork/concrete ?
