This is my 4th try at loading a pic on this site. Here is my pond awaiting completion. I will add further posts on here as things progress. It's nice to have an interactive site on here.[img][/img]

Well, as you can see, my pic did get to the site. My pond is intended to be a swimming pond.(One that can be swum in). It will cover wall to wall and be 2meters deep in the middle area which is calculated to be about 40% of the surface area.Part will be "segregated" to create a vegetative filter. The overall size of the pond is 11.5 by 8.5 meters. It has five bottom drains which are piped with 110mm pressure pipe to a yet to be excavated underground custom built filter system adjacent to the pond. I estimate the volume of the completed pond to be fifteen to twenty thousand gallons plus the filter. The method of construction so far has been, 14 cubic meters concrete base with reinforcing mesh as well as reinforcing rods set into it. Thereafter, 9inch hollow blocks, backfilled with steel reinforced concrete slurry. After further concreteing, the pond will be "plastered" and lined with Fibreglass. In a weeks time, I will collect and pay for the rest of the mat that I require, (I have been collecting it for the last few years) and then I start saving up for a ton plus of resin and Flo-coat etc.. This pond building is getting to be scarey, but it serves me right for joining our local Koi club and learning that what I had planned previously would have failed as far as likelyhood of sucessfull koi keeping. They said I should learn from the mistakes that they had made. Thanks for reading about my project. Will post more in time. F.
Ive heard alot about these swimming ponds, but never actually seen one, can you tell us more about it, I mean, what stops you from catching infections like chlorine does in a swimming pool ?

Hello again fellow fish nuts. Thanks for your encouraging comments. I came back to this site because of the gratifying content I found on here. As you have asked me, I am posting another couple of items which may be of interest to you. Hopefully visitors to these pages will be inspired to post pictures of their pond projects as well as their fish. Also the ideas and information are usefull ways of increasing our knowledge which is so vital in keeping our fish alive. Regards, Freddie P..
