What size and type of filter (and with what media) have you selected to use on this size of pond ? Additionally, what other devices have you fitted - heater U.V etc ?
Im using a nexus 300 easy filter with k1 (kaldness) media, 55W UV, and running a sequence pump, Ive still got alot of work to do around the pond as the spring draws nearer, patio area etc, which will make it look nicer.
Ill post some more pictures at the weekend when I can see it in daylight..... :
Here are some pics of my pond (before and after) - its not a grand as yours but hopefully not too bad for a first attempt. When we moved to the house we inherited the pond as in the first picture which was full of Goldfish but was only 18 inches deep - we decided to keep Koi and the rest as they say is history ! We completed the pond in May, but to be honest it has been nothing but problems ever since. The Ammonia & Nitrite levels would not reduce even after 6 months of operations - I now believe this was due to an incorrect flow rate - this has now been corrected and I'm hoping to add more biological filter material in the spring to ensure these issues don't happen again. However, now two of my fish have developed this "cotton wool" issue which I have described on this forum - I'm beginning to think is it worth all the hassle.
very nice ponds . keep at it 695 I have only been keeping koi for a year now and I have had all the same problems you have had. Can anybody else posting pics of their ponds start a new thread rather than all posting in this 1 as it makes it easyer to view rather that going thru the same thread over and over. Thanks
Can you tell me a bit more about the probelms you had ? Did you loose fish through this period and what action did you take ? Sorry for all the questions !
