Reputation Level: | Just designing our Koi Pond Skimmer advice needed Hi
new to the forum so be gentle with me.
Just in the process of designing our pond.
Main filtration with be Eazypod (1600 gallons) gravity fed 2 outlets
I am installing a skimmer and running a water filter I am thinking of sending the skimmer to a settlement tank which will have a pump to our current pressure filter and then on to the water feature.
Is this feasible?
Also are water buts suitable as settlement tanks ?
Cheers Christine |

Reputation Level: | Hi Christine what's the thinking behind using a sump ? Could you not pump straight from the skimmer to the pressure filter. |

Welcome to the forum.
Imho and if your budget will allow i'd put a nexus 210 as your main filter, the easypods are good when using them as mechanical filters but not the best at doing mechanical and biological at the same time. Another way to run a skimmer line is to gravity feed the easypod and then pump it to the pressure filter and do away with the settlement tanks, you will need a long dwel time in these tanks to drop any waste from a skimmer.
Where abouts do you live? I'm sure members will let you take a look at their setups and you'll get a better picture of what you want and what not to do.
Regards Mark |

Thanks for the advice I live in the NW between St Helens and Wigan.
Budget and size if an issue with a 210 but I will consider it if a second hand one comes on the market.
