Unfortunately I'm going to have to put this on hold for now. Not sure how long.
It's it's not time then it's money, but in my case it's health. I've been burning the candle at both ends with work, fsamily and he build that I forgot to look after myself and ended up in hospital last night after collapsing twice.
I've been ill with this flu bug for about 4 weeks now, but had the first week in Jan booked off to spend some time on the build. Then I've been getting 5 hours sleep a night to leave for work at 5am. It's all come to a head and the body has just decided no more.
Feel a bit bad for my wife a I've bought this on myself and she was in a right mess as she was trying to bring me round on the floor of the bathroom and then again 10 seconds later on the floor of the hallway. She's 5 months pregnant and was panicing a fair bit. My 4 year old remained calm at least and ran to get the telphone so the wife could call for an abulance.
Long story short I've spent the night in hospital and been told not to do anything at all until my white blood cell count gets down to what is considered normal. Being the enthusiastic one, I'm sure I'll be fine and building again in a few weeks

Your health and family come first and there is plenty of time for the pond build as in the winter its all quiet. So just get yourself better and then plod along carefully and you will see it will be done in time for the summer and some new fish
Good luck and get well soon and well done your little one
Looking good You're slightly further ahead than me, been held up due to freezing weather. I too shall be erecting a pergola over mine.
Are you putting anything on the top of it?

Hi Miles,
I'm thinking persepect roof on top. The dual layer insulated stuff they use for conservatories etc. but I'm not 100% certain yet.
What you putting on yours?
Just looked at the picture and it must be the camera arc as the wall looks all bent and the pergola doesn't look straight. It's definately straight though unless my spirit level is broke
I had previously built a collar for the filter Wall and dug out some earth, so I could step down into the filter from the garden for more head room when inside the chamber.
First I started with the side walls, I plan to have the filter area about 1 block higher than the top of the pond. So I can angle this down slightly away from the pond. This way any water or rubbish on top of the filter will divert away from the pond.
I will be extending the pergola over the filter area and then fitting the perspex roof on top of both the filter and the pond.
There will be a enterance in the form of a door and the roof of the filter area will lift up to the sides to have lots of room to access the filter area.
On the right hand side where the floor has been screened, I will have the poly bead 4 filter. This will be pumped from the skimmer via a striner basket and return back via mid water retrurns.
The Nexus will pick from the bottom drain and be pumped through a 50W UV and back to the pond via top and mid level returns.
I have 4 returns in total one on each side of the pond wall and all angled at 45 degress and pointing slightly down.
