Mark, Should work. just got to get the measurements correct......
But (always a BUT)If it was me I'd stick with the copping stone idea, how you have the setup at the moment its smart, professional looking, adding this would make it look a bit cowboyish sorry mate I'm a builder.....it would bug the hell out of me seeing it like that. But its your koi pool not mine, so its up to you.

very true mate, i understand what you mean. if i was to dig a channel out of the top block work where the cement is and then put in a 1/2" pipe or bigger would that work that way. its just that i dont really want the level up to the cement all the time so would need to come down 1/2" i think. mark

Yep that would work - I would use a larger pipe 1" or 1.5" but that depends on how your going to fix the copping stones in place ie cement, adhesive or just lay in place.....?

im going to cement the copping stones in place, so the pipe will have to be on top of the liner and the cement over it and copping stone then. then i will bring the pipe down the side of the pond to a quick release union so i can pipe it to the drain or take it away as pond is not close enough for a permanent drain away.

Ok, 1" pipe you'll need to sink halfway into the blockwork then the morter on top to make certain the copping stones will be level - seal around the pipe with silicone before cementing in place.......Job will be a goodun when finished-pro job

right thats sorted then, thats the way im doing it and will take pics and put on my thread when done. when you say silicone around the pipe do you mean put loads of silicone on the liner then push the 1" pipe into the silicone and the cement over the top. mark

Yep spot on, garantee that will be the first thing to leak and we don't want that.....
Your drainage problem there is a easy fix........ If you have any flowerbeds near to the pond. dig a 4ft well hole fill it about a foot with brick rubble, run the overflow directly to the base of the hole, refill and compact the sole - a simple drainage pit

Will need a proper drain system for a 24/7 flow rate - this way would work fine if your going to do 10% water change say every 2 - 3 days.
