I may have to go higher with the blockwork/bricks to make it 6' deep but I was trying to avoid having the wall too high so that we could be seated and still see the fish. The big news is that the filtration turned up today along with the Sequence 12000 and air pump ( I forget which air pump right now but it's an 80lpm thingy). I'm now a bit unsure if it's worth bothering with 'benching' as someone else said it wasn't worthwhile, hmmm. Anyway, I'll post some pics when a bit more progress has been made.
Cheers...Freddy. | now that sounds just like my pond did lol, when i was planning mine it was going to be 13x9x4 and then when blocks got laid it ended being 12x8x4 but im still happy with it apart from losing 500 gallons that size. when you start to pipe it up give me a ring mate coz i would like to advise you on some things. are you running the econo bead on the 12000. i brought a 10000 but not sure if that is powerfull not yet. mark |

Reputation Level: | Hiya Mark. Yes, the 12000 is for the Sieve/Econobead. It's very disappointing to learn that the gallonage will be a lot less. I have however had a thought. What if I made the pond bigger higher up, say, the last 3 or 4ft ? The thing that bothers me with this idea is, the bottom drain. Would it still be effective enough?
Cheers...Freddy. |

Reputation Level: | the bottom drain will still work good as with the pond smaller the rubbish will get to the pond alot better and quicker i think. |

Reputation Level: | Mark, just to clarify. What I was thinking was to extend on the length, but to have this part shallower. |

Reputation Level: | 10.3x7x5 gives you 2245.7 Gallons (uk) which is not so bad. if you go deeper you could make it maybe abit better. at least you know the filter will cope more then enough mate. |

Reputation Level: | Mark, I think we're talking at cross purposes Ok, my planned depth was 5ft, 3ft of this is underground, the other 2ft out of ground. The best I reckon I can do is another 1ft (6ft in all). If I went to 6ft, this would give me around 2,600 gals. If I were to extend the pond by another 3ft in length for the last 3ft of depth, that would take me to 3,000ish gals.
Cheers...Freddy. |
