Reputation Level: | sounds good, with the pipe work make sure you put enough gate valves in and alsoput some unions in after the gate vavles to let you be able to take pipe work off if need to. im so glad i put plenty in as to having one of my pumps pack up of which i found out yesterday cant be repaired. |

Reputation Level: | Hi chums. Just been out there trying to suss out what needs to go where. One thing I just thought of. My sieve will need to be sunk in the ground (in the shed)and suddenly realised that I will need to be able to drain it to waste. Thing is, it'll be around 1ft underground, and therefore 1ft (more or less) below the drain. Any thoughts on how I can drain it ? BTW, I hope this makes sense
Cheers...Freddy |

Reputation Level: | Hi folks. Slow progress being made. Today I dug a hole in the shed within which I will have to lay a concrete base for the sieve. To drain my sieve, it looks like I'm gonna have to dig out a sump What I was wondering is, is there such a thing as a submersible pump that has solids handling capability and a float switch to turn it on and off automatically as needed ?
Cheers...Freddy. |

Reputation Level: | Hiya chums, thanks for the replies. That's excellent news, it'll take away some of the problems that I'm facing. I'm stressed out enough as it is !
Does anyone know how much water I can expect to exit the sieve when I drain it of fish waste ? I need to have some idea so that I know what size container/butt I'm gonna need for the sump.
Cheers...Freddy. |

Reputation Level: | Hi chums. Well, it's been a nightmare trying to get the waste sorted. I'd hoped to be able to plumb the waste direct into the sewer pipe, but it's encased in concrete! I had thought about just putting the waste pipe directly over the drain, but the drain can't cope with such a fast flow rate. So, here's what I plan to do. I'll dig out a sump with the submersible pump inside. From that I'll pump it to a water butt using tank connectors and let it go to waste under gravity. Any thoughts ?
Cheers...Freddy. |
