I'm new to keeping pond fish tho have been a keeper of tropical & marine fish for many years.
This is my first time building a pond & the first time i've ever lade a brick ,

Hi Mark, i've been watching your pond with great interest, but as I work guit slow, I disided not to post my pics till now .
I just have to lay another layer of bricks, then level out the bottom then underlay time .
i'd say about 2 weeks left.
i see you got some shelf's in the pond, is there a reason for this. are you going to have plants in the pond. also what filter system are you putting on it.

I was planning to have a few plants but if I understand right koi like to eat plants, but if at all poss I would like to have a few in 1 corner.
The shelf's, well thought they would help with the plants.
As for the filter, I made a bit of a boo boo with that 1, I have a V5000, i'm looking to add something else to it, as money is a little tight, so wont be upgrading till after xmas.
Hi Dark-angels-40k, Plants in koi pond are ok - just remember to encase the plants in a fine wire mesh basket leaving at least an inch gap between the plants and the wire mesh (bigger the gap the better) Koi love to eat the roots.

Hi Darren thanks for that, so is it like a basket in a basket ?
hi, Yep thats correct - just to stop the koi from eating the roots and spreading toxins from the soil all over the place..... also there is on the market a floating planter.......
