Can vouch for the root biting senario....I have a basket with some bull rushes in, and where the roots protrude, the koi's must bite them off, as I often see some roots floating at the top, which I have to get out!

Have a question .

I'm looking to buy my pump in the week & been looking about.

I was ganner buy a Superfish ECO Plus 20000 Pond Pump, 210 watts for £130 thought the higher the better.

So my question is, would anyone know if any of the following pumps are any good or not ?

Superfish ECO Plus 20000 £130, 210 watts
Mega SS30 surface mount pump £142.95, 0.25 kw
Yamitsu wattpump 400 £138.99, 400 watts

Or if any 1 can recommend 1

Hi dark-angels-40k
I would always choose a surface pump, easier to clean and service plus no unsightly hoses laying on the bottom of the pond stopping the bottom drain working correctly. Running costs:- As a rough guide: If you run a pump continuously day and night for one week it will cost approximately 1p for every watt of electricity used. I.e. a 250 watt pump will cost £2.50 per week (if run continuously) if running costs be a issue.
Always check ebay before you decide whch to go for, plenty of good pumps at reasonable prices.
Also you will loose upto 40% of the pump pressure going threw your filtration system so choose a pump to cover this aswell

Happy shopping

Thanks for that Darren, i,m sort of pointing that way, tho a little more insite is good.

Tho my pump won't be in the pond its self, as I have build in filter bay that the pump will sit in, or will be be in an extra bay

If the pump is sitting in a filter bay chamber have a look at sump pumps - cheap to buy and run.

if i had to choose , i'd go superfish eco 20000 , there not a bad pump for money and on running cost's , plus the pumping head is very handy to have , if you ever decide to change tack filter wise !

before you buy , and if you decide to go with this pump , as there are two models , both 20000 but one is 210w's and the other is 240 ish

ive got 5 of the eco 20000 running along side 2 lifetech 36,000lph , and there a good pump .

hiya ,

sequence are a good pump , for me there pipped by the aquamax eco , slighty by head performance verse wattage , but nether the less , a very good pump .

as for my pond 12, 000gallons , i like a big turnover , so can feed more , though if i could i would turn over the pond faster , but the leccy bill is border line value , in the case of growth and general cost
