Ok, so yours isn't aerated. Thing is, I've seen some advertised for around £20, no good ?

Cheers...Freddy.

its just your choice if you have an aerated drain or not. in my view its just one more thing to go wrong at some stage. with my drain nothing at all can go wrong with it and putting in air stones or a 9" air dome is so easy to take out and clean. its really upto you and i dare say people who use them will shoot me down and say they are great lol. your choice freddy.

Hi Mark, another link...Spindrifter Aerated Drain - Koi Pond Aeration - Coldwater Collection
You'll see that the air input is separate from the main pipe.

Cheers...Freddy.

that was a good read but to be honest its still a matter of choice lol. i still like the way my bottom drain is made and done. i have already brought a disc dome like in the picture and will do mine that way. let me know what you go for.

one other thing i will say is i brought my drain from a dealer who has been selling koi and building ponds for 35 years, im sure if aerated bottom drain was a must they would have told me and put me onto it. how big is your pond going to be. i would of thought if you put the returns in the right place in the pond then you will get a vortex kind of movement in which it will push all the crap to the centre of the pond any way.

Good luck Mark at least it's a good dry day for you.

No advice really, but obviously keep any creases and/or folds to a minimum. Had one thought though, are you going to slightly 'bank-up' the corners to aleviate any dead spots?

Have fun!
