Hi Mark. I've just been trying to suss out how the skimmer gets fitted, so I decided to look at how you have yours. It became a lot clearer, but one thing struck me. Assuming that you will put a slab or something over the top of it, how will you get to the basket inside ?
hiya freddy, you dont ever put a slab over the top of the skimmer, you only run the slabs up next to the skimmer so you can get into it easy. if you get any probs give me a ring mate mark

Hay there freddy & Mark of couse .
I just put in my skimmer in, my thought for the slabs & skimmer was to slab up to both ends of the skimmer, & make the slab for the skimmer removeable.
Well thats my thoughts , less someone has a better idea

the only prob with you saying that is the slab on the skimmer top will be higher. the skimmer should be fitted so that the water surface is 3/4 up the skimmer. my slabs will just butt up next to the sides of the skimmer with nothing on top of it.
This was the easiest way I found to deal with the skimmer problem - see picture -
didn't want the extra cost of a skimmer mouth extention so I just used a mini angle grinder and cut a hole, easy job
Hi Mark. How's the pond looking? Are all the readings ok? I was reading up a bit on the Econobead, and it says that it takes out the really small particles, so, is your water clear? Come on, let's have a full report !

hiya freddy
well so far so good, the water is gin clear, i had not back washed the bead filter untill the weekend as was told to leave it awhile, but to be honest the water was not spot on at all, but soon as i used the air blower and back washed it, with in 24hrs it is really really clear and looks good. i can even see fish poo on the bottom easy at 4 foot deep. the other thing i have noticed is the amount of fish waste the estro sieve takes out of the water. i would say that is one of the best things any one could put on a pond for sure. we have had nearly every fish come up and hand feed right down to 4" fish. i had to put a gate vavle in at the weekend between the bead filter and the pump because if you dont the air blower blows back though the pump and back into the sieve so you must have a gate valve and shut it off also you have to shut the return off to the pond. we are off to pick up 3 more cracking fish on weds that i won on ebay last night for an awesome good price. any questions just ask away. mark
