This is a view looking up the garden, the old baby size pond was behind the granite wall

Ready for concrete with the filter drain made with 3" d/pipe.

Started concreting the walls here yesterday, note the diy shuttering in the mix i used concrete and screed fibres,to prevent shrinking and cracking.
As a builder, and keen recycler, i have used a mix and match approach. and it's saved alot of money . Today i' bought' old stock slabs for the capping, 600 mm x 300 and they were FREE I think the god of koi wants me to get it done cheap. lol

Rep Power: 0 | All the materials i have used are good and solid, blocks and bricks left over from jobs with a few of each reclaimed. Apart from the filter drain, all the pipework and fittings will be new,as i wouldn't trust s/hand

The pictures are a bit out of sync but you get the gist of it.It's still a work in progress but nearly there. Just sorting out flow problems,ie, the q i mentioned last post, which was, the water level in the filters on the first fill was 3 inches below the pond level. ?? but i have discovered since, it is more than likely an airlock in the mushroom cover I thought i was going to have to go in a fan the air out but now, im'm going to attach the return pipe to a batten and hold it at the m/room to dislodge any trapped air. If not, it's a diving mask for me, lol

Anybody have any idea what kind of koi this is? I've looked around on the web but couldn't figure out what it is. |
