DVLA bans 'obscene' number plate

A man from Chesterfield was ordered to remove a naughty number plate by the DVLA, even though he bought it from their website.

Alan Clarke, 49, paid £399 for the plate 'BO11 LUX' and fitted it to his new Range Rover.

His friends and family found the cheeky plate hilarious but the laughter was short-lived when, six weeks later, Clarke received a letter from the DVLA ordering him to remove it.

The organisation said the plate was "causing offence" and threatened Clarke with a fine of up to £1,000.

According to 'The Daily Mail', he said: "It's absolutely ludicrous. I saw it on the DVLA website last November and thought it would be a bit of fun to put it on my new car.

OMG I cringe at the Politial Correctness fanatic with nothing better to do other then write into the DVLA to report this.

I say its a great number plate ! And to the PC brigade (get a life ,,i,,)

LOL, Ive just that on F/B.. How stupid can it get. I really found it funny and i would have that on my truck.... Better than the private plate i have on mine !!

There's a married couple who are West-End theatre owners, who have two cars, the registrations are 2B and NOT2B

Fiona Richmond an actress in risqué plays, comedy revues, magazines and films, had an E-Type Jaguar, registration was FU2.

A member of my golf club has D15MAL.

Wouldn't have been my choice.

I have J1 ADK on my discovery, ADK are my initials. Just need to find a wealthy Asian fella called Jiad Kaleef (or some other surname beginning with K), who will buy it for shed loads of money so I can get some nice Koi.

Nah mate the screws would be black ones and would go either side the top of the the number 1 so it would read T05SER.

it would obviously refer to my driving and the moron sat up the backend of my car would hopefully back off and think twice.

I'm not into personalised number plates, maybe I should be, as although I can instantly recall the registration of my first car at the age of seventeen, (DPA227) I struggle with the current one and have for the previous two or three.
So I invent a "name" for my cars which includes the reg.

My present car could probably be thought as "Polish," as I call it MTOS LUDEK. I find that much easier to remember than the registration.
