Default Quaranteeing New Fish

Me again!

I have recently purchased a few koi for my new pond. They have all been purchased over the last few weeks and they've all gone straight into the pond.

Already I've become quite attached to them and when I stock up the pond in the future I want to be sure that I don't introduce anything nasty.

The koi book I have says that quaranteeing fish can cause them more stress and can even make them ill!? I'm assuming this isn't a common view...?

What does quaranteeing involve exactly? I'm guessing a big tank or tub with an air stone and just keeping an eye on them for a couple of weeks - is that about it?

Cheers

Paul

qt norm lasts around 30 days but personal qt is up to the keeper to really be sure the tank needs to be able to heat to the temp of 24 degs [one deg a day] then back down [khv risks cut] you can qt for 15 days with a filter ..... to watch the fish your real first point of call is finding a dealer you trust and you know has no nastys.
