Default noobie problem

Hello,
I am a proper novice with keeping koi!,
I have three larger koi that i have had since last year without any problems but this was my first winter with them they are around 14 inch so not youngsters i have had the water tested which came back as very good not a high level anywhere but i had lost one last week which looked healthy didnt show any real signs of stress but was lethargic and the day i had the water results it was dead at the bottom of the pond.
I have changed 30% of the water every couple of days last week. But now another one is showing the same signs I have pulled it out of the pond and into a holding container in which i had put fresh water into and an air stone, also put a small amount of salt, this has made the fish brighter. My main worry here is how long should i keep it separate or how long should the fish be in this water with salt in?
I think the problem is the water quailty with rotting blanket weed which i have been killing off with a velda ioniser i believe this has taken out all of the salt and is causing the problem i have turned off the ioniser
Help me with any ideas please!!!

Hi - how much salt have you added to the water?
Also have you used a dechlorinator when refilling?
Adam.

Hello I added about 1/2 once to 5 gallons of water in the holding tank it is only small so that has filled up the container, i did not dechoranze as i have not had time yet to get some i just wanted to get the fish out and the water cleaner in the pond. i am sure it is to do with the blanket weed dying off. As the fish shows no phyiscal signs of damage or infection.
And thanks for replying by the way!

Have you tested your ph? The reason I ask is because the ph can rise as the blanketweed dies.
You need to add dechlorinator for all tap water used in your pond or for your fish. Filling the tank with tap water and salt is probably doing more harm than good.

Hi and thanks for your ideas!
I have an air pump running already an will be buying the water safe to help remove the chlorine today I am guessing asthe water was tested as ok two weeks back that my problem is the rotting dying blanket weed dam stuff was the plague to me with blocking the pumps and generally being being nasty but removing it also now has changed the ponds balance! the fish is back in the main pond as he was starting to damage himself in the small holding tank.
