hi all my 2700 gallon pond has been up and running for 5 months now with no problems to date , water paramiters are very good i test weekly and no2,no3 and nh4 are 0 ph hovers around 7.8 my filter is a home made very large box type 300 gallons with a 2 stage mechanical followed by 75 kilos of alpha there is also a 300 gallon veg filter holding a few types of bullrush and varoius pond weed anyway it all seams to work great as water tests always good ...i have 20 small koi all of whitch are growing nicely the problem i have is that on one of my showas i noticed a white type of blob half way up the forst dorsal fin spine on asking at the local koi centre i was informed it sounds like anchor worm and was told to dab the spot with tcp then scrape of the lump with my nail then dab dry and apply friars balsom ...so i did and like the guy said the worm type thing come of so i dabed dry and applied the balsom and returned the koi to the pond ...... the thing that is worrying me is that not only has it reapeared but also the other showa now has the same ... strange that i only have two showas and both of them now have it .. there is no sign of this on any of the other koi
any help anyone ...

my fish are very hard to catch as they have hidding places but at night i have green spot lights and the koi are a bit easyer to catch if they come up for food as they cant see they cant see my coming with the net so i will try to catch and get a pic as i have to catch them to treat anyway but ive been told that if its on the spine of the fin and not on the skin inbetween its more likley to be worm ... but then im still learning

oh i forgot to say when i scraped the first one off the showa it was a white blob and inside was a brownie coloured long thing about 3 mm long and about half a mm wide
thanks guys for the replies
yea the one i took off was thread like and brownish but the the white blob on the dorsal fin is back again on same fish and now the other showa has one too on the same place half way up the first spine on the dorsal fin ....
thanks for th input guys
well sat for 1 an half hours last nite and another hour tonite they are active enough but not coming to the suface for food so i still aint guna catch them yet
and to answer darran no new fish have gone in they seam ok actively swiming around last night they where speeding around a lot but just not near the suface to be honest ive no concerns with there health in general just want to get the to the bottom of what it is on the two showas dorsal fins it dont look infected looks like a small mucussy blob same spot on both fish strange how its only on the showas ive closly looked at all the other koi and no signs of anythink else ... by the way i would recomend the green spotslights as makes close inspection of the fish at night very easy without having to net them ... thats when it gets difficult for me as my pond has many features ...i built my pond as a garden feature lots of rock and planting but with keeping koi in mind ill try upload a pic of pond
Before you treat or do anything else you need to make sure 100% what you have on the fish and with the temperature dropping and do they look like waxy spots ??
Try to see if you can get a picture and then we may be able to help a bit more.
