Defiantly 3 lice. They where moving. I looked at a YouTube video of koi lice and it was exactly the same. I haven't had a look at any of the other fish, should I? I guess I need to treat the pond ASAP just hope I don't have to sedate every fish one by one to check them.

Can anyone recommend a good treatment please?

Just to confirm you identified these as Argulus?

Have you a link to the Youtube clip you referred to in your identification.

Sorry but there is a need to be clear, that way you will get the best advice.

Sorry Dave I just realised I started talking about lice in my other thread about water tests.

They are defiantly Argulus.

This is the link ??????? FISH LICE (ARGULUS) - YouTube

I have done a bit of research and found kusuri Fluke-m, seems as though treating them 3 times at 7 day intervals will get rid of the lice.

What do you think?

I haven't got access to a scope so I can't really check for anything else, I just want to get shot to the lice and get the koi back to normal

Thanks

Hiya

Argulus can seriously mess up the fish so you do need to try and get the treatment spot on.

Unfortunately the long established, very effective remedy for Argulus is a banned substance.

I would be looking at Fish Treatment Ltd – Specialist Fish medicines Solupraz and Mectinsol as a potential medication. You will need repeat treatments as the buggers are egg layers and you can only kill the adults/ hatched eggs.

Speak to them first to chat things through so you get it right.

Put yourself in their professional hands as to suggested timeline for repeat treatments, I suspect that temperature will affect the lifecycle of the critters.

Hope this helps

Dave

Hi James
Don’t blame the dealer you brought the last koi from as it could be down to frogs as they carry all sorts of parasites
I have sent you a PM
Regards
Pete
