All done brought myself Kusuri topical kit and took the plunge, but sh*t myself when i put it under and put on the towel and the gills stopped moving! so shoved it straight back in the recovery bowl and panicked, but after a while they started moving again but was still under so carried on , maybe a bit quickly and shakey but i think i done ok.
Hope it all goes well as you have taken a good call to treat and its always hardest the first time but something you have to do sometimes.
Don't panic is the first thing to remember and although the gills do sometimes stop moving don't worry you have to have them in a fairly strong solution to kill them and if you are using a specific koi sedation its normally based on 2-phenoxyethanol so its very hard to overdose. Just keep cool and carry on with the procedure making sure you clean out the wound and have a good topical treatment and sealer if needed.
