Default Eye Problem

Hi All
Hope someone can help me with this problem with my poor koi Last month we treated her for fin rot but seems to have come back as the pond was not heated then. now she has an eye problem, I have now had to buy a big tank and put it in the garage all the other koi in the pond are fine she is now in the garage tank sitting at 20c she is eating well but looking sad I gave her a salt bath today but it's not looking good I am new to koi keeping and have looked all over the internet for answers.

Thanks for your help

Shevy

Hiya Shevyrabbit
what dose of salt did you do for the salt dip and how long did you leave the fish in it for. also when you do salt dips make sure you have a air stone running all the time the fish is in it. mark

i have seen this before on a koi health dvd before and i believe they used dry ice to burn the the bad places but this can only be done by some one who knows what they are doing. i may be wrong but i have for sure seen this treated before some how. i would wait for ogawa to have a look and his opinion on it before you do any more. but strong salt dips would not harm it of say 3 once per gallon but this is very strong and if fish strees's out you need to put it back into clean water. when ever i have had fin rot or so i have salt dipped in 3 once and then when fish is in the salt dip rub the fin between your fingers so your rubbing the salt water into the bad spot and believe me it does clear it up alot better. i had a chagoi once with bad fin rot and i did this and weeks later it was like new.

Shevy
8g of salt per 5lts is nothing at all, no way near enough. who told you this amount.
28g = 1 once
4.5lts = 1 gallon

i add 3 once per gallon but this is strong.

Shevy
you need to do bigger sait dips, measure out your gallons and add at least 1.5 once of salt per gallon and even more if you feel safe doing it. salt is one of the best cleaning solution you can use and will do no harm doing the dips.
