Question my koi is sick - lying on its side

Hi,

I have a koi in my holding tank (in the garage) that is lying on its side. it appears to be lethargic more than anything. As the winter has hit us I suspect it could be the cold. The water temperature is about 5 degrees. The rest of the fish in there are OK..... any ideas

I have switched on my heater, however not sure this will help, though I have seen fish in a shop lying on the bottom of a tank (on thier side) because it is too cold.
Should I do anything ... Help

cheers

Mike

might be worth testing your water just to make sure everything is ok, but like u say its prob down to water temp, maybe somone else with a bit more knowledge will be able to help good luck

Hi Steve,

I stopped feeding the fish about 3 weeks ago when the water temp went down to about 8 degrees. I did give a tiny amount of food last week though.
I have tested the water perameteers. PH is 9, Amonia 0, Nitrate 0. water temp at the top is 3 degrees
Looks like my heater is also not working so will try and sort that out today.
thanks for your advice Mike
