Reputation Level: | trichodinia I notiticed my largest koi flicking, after scaping i found one trichodinia spinning on the slide, my pond is 5500 gallons so i have treated with 50 grams of PP THE uv is turned off and i have left on the airation from my two bottom drains. After 2 hours the water is starting to go from its pink to brown, my question is , Does the water have to stay pink for a longer period for it to be effective?

Reputation Level: | Thanks ,
Did read this acticle before i treated the pond with the PP, the water has gone brown after only a couple of hours which i know is now ineffective, it has to stay pink for at least 4 hours, should i redose till it stays pink for longer?

Reputation Level: | Usualy only one dose is needed but do another scrape tomorrow redose if needed. Also I would do a 20 - 30% water change this afternoon.

Reputation Level: | Will do water changes, then scrape , then if i have to redose will keep adding PP to keep the water pink for a longer period.
Cheers for advice |

Reputation Level: | Trichodina Hi Darren,
did two scrapes this morning, no parasites to find anywere, no blanket weed or alge, koi look like they sneaked out last night to the local garage and had a jet wash, PH 7.0 KH up a bit to around 10 probably with all the water chages, so BIG THANKS for the advice just going to get them feeding again now will change protein food to a mix of 50/50 with weatgerm
