Default Would You Buy One?

Well i decided to take the day of today and take a wonder to swallow aquatics in Rayleigh, Essex.
Having dribbled over some of there HUGE koi i wanted to see what was still available in the 5-6 inch dept after spending a good half an hour i came across quite a few yamabuki's showa's etc all having the signs of pox .
Eventually an assistant approached me and asked did i need help i instantly asked was that the price for these and he said "yeah but were not doing any deals on em" , i turned to him and said wot even though they have koi pox and his reply was "yeah but it'll go when it warms up" so i replied but wont it transfer to mine and his reply was ......yup you got it right "nah mate " would you buy one.
All i will say is i wouldnt want to take the risk knowing that what fish i do have are disease free and these koi were in a tank of 20c so i dont think looking at how sore they were these fish would survive there first winter..

My first whinge

there larger fish seemed to be in A1 condition and have to say i havent seen this before ,however i still think that as a buisness the spread of koi pox would have legal implications wouldnt it???.
It wouldnt be so bad if only 1 out of lets say over 100 had got it but to find over 8 ( my eyes went dippy looking at em).
Would this be an enviromental concern??

looks like i'll be contacting the enviro boys' tomorow then .
Oh he was very reluctant to say that they were all isreali koi too when i asked who the breeders were he said magnoy to which i replied oh isreali's then not that i have any issues with that but surley they should have sign's or something,i personally dont think he knew too much about what he was saying as he then told a couple who had innocently asked would it be ok to put 5 to 6 inch fish in with a 12 inch koi to which he said no as it would eat them mmmm trying to sell the more expensive fish me think's ..
To be honest with you welsh_koi i have bought my first lot of koi from my local pet shop and picked up a very nice hi utsuri albeit there only 4 inch and the biggest 10 (the one in another thread for identification),there condition is fantastic and they come from a local breeder but she only stocks low numbers and fish of decent colouration ,they also told me if there's any want but cant find she'll use her sources gets a thumbs up from me

I'm from yorkshire and moved to Essex 6 year ago so knowing the best places is a bit hit and miss , however i hadnt gone to swallows to buy just merely to browse as i wanted to get out of the washing up .
Where do you source your stock from steve?

have to say i dont have a problem with them being isreali and can say that next year i would even buy one myself .
Ive had 3 tiddlers (koi) that were just over 3 inch 6 weeks ago and have either grown to over 4 inch or my eyes are not as young as they once were one of which i thought was a bekko is now getting a burgundy colour underneath the black and does look very nice
