Reputation Level: | Unknown disease Hello i am new at this koi keeping thing and now is the time i need a little help.
I have a few goldfish in with my koi. But one of the goldfish has a blister type thing on its tail. I just wanted to someone to shead a little light on it so i can treat it so that it doesn't infect the koi. here are a few pics. Please can someone identify it please. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/IMG_0071.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...6/IMG_0069.jpg

Reputation Level: | Hi, hope someone knows what it is. I've one koi which had exactly the same.
It didnt seem to bother him and now he's got like a little whole where the blister was. It is hard and won't come off. I've asked a few people but nobody did know for sure. One answer I got was that it could be a little insury from insects etc which is healing. |

Reputation Level: | its not easy , identifying fishy problems from a pic , as it looks like a waxy lump , so could be carp pox , usually at this time of year it isn't a problem , but i have seen alot of cases this year , including fish in my own pond .
though i cant be 100% sure , there seems to be a more virile strain this year , like a step up in the common cold ???? again i cant be 100% on that , could all be down to our realy erratic weather this year

Reputation Level: | It didnt seem to have spread to any other fish. I'm sure it isnt carp pox,
my effected koi was kept in a inside pond over the winter and only got into the outside pond when the temp was 15 deg. However the hard waxy grain seemed to soften up over the weeks, as if it was growing out. At one point it got a little red edge and a few days after it was gone, just left a needle size hole in its fin whith a red edge. I was worried it might be infected
so i did sedate the koi and put malachete green and propolis on it. Looks like it starts to heal now. Like you said it could be viral problem...? |
