Default I Need Some Serious Assistance!!!!

Hi Guys

Im in need of some fairly serious help!!! My dad keeps koi and I take an active part in failing to keep them healthy!

I have a number of good quality fish left having already lost a load, but they are still getting ill despite my water quality testing as perfect!

I have done lots of reading but I appear to have at least one fish with EVERY sympton possible!!!

I need ideas on treatment etc, I have a quarantine tank that is quite small, i cant put ALL my fish in it!lol

I have taken a load of pictures for you all to get an idea of the set up and hopefully give me some guidance!!!

It would be helpful if you can give the names of treatments too!

Hi richy koi .

we are going to know the in's and out's of everything !!

1) what are your water params , details please , on ph , amm, nitrite, nitrate full reading please .
(on ph early morning , and late evening results)

2) pond set up : turnover , maintenance , the whole thing from start to finish , also do you have a bottom drain ?

3) feeding rates / daily amount , number of fish , stocking rate's ? gallonage of the pond ?

4) how long ago did this start ?

without knowing , what the above are , it will be hard to help you find an answer .

from the pic's , it looks like you have a serious , case of fin rot and ulceration . we need to know the above so we can try to find the cause . can you get your hands on a microscope and do a scrape ??

Default Pond set up

I am not sure what the total gallons are, its a bloody big pond though, it has not been done on the cheap!

The pump, Surface skimmer, filter box, UV light are all OASE as can be seen from the pictures. It has a flow rate of 266 Litres per minute and the pump is at the bottom of the pond which is 4 feet deep.

The pond is 6.8 metres across and 2.3 metres wide, over a 1/3 of it is 4feet deep and the other 2/3rds is over 2 feet deep.

It has one main waterfall direct from the filter box.

Not sure what else you may need to know about the pond itself???

Hi rich ,

your pond is around 2400 ish gallons , your pump 3500 gallons aprox per hour , how high is your waterfull , and what head is your pump rated to ?

can you do a water test and let me know the results

i think i can see your problem , your filter doesn't look big enough , do a water test and let me know the results
steve

Default water test results

Hi there Steve

The waterfall drops into a very small pool, about 2 feet, and then drops 10 inches over a rock into the pond. Im not sure about the pump and what head its rated at?

The water results as pictured below are:

PH between 7-7.5
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate- below 5
Nitrite - 0.1

I have also put up a picture of the testing kit itself.

regards
Rich

Default The Fish 1 & 2

Attachment 2231

I have attached a picture of the general fish and pictures of 2 specifically.

These are 2 of the fish, they are currently quarantined in a tank, and i was treating them with Iodine, but fish one definately got worse!

Now that the other fish have started suffering i cant quarantine them all!

I have labelled all the fish by number and in order of post to make it easier to hopefully direct me toward treatment.

These first 2 i am not overly worried about, they are not particularly big fish or particularly colourful, but id rather treat them if possible, if treatment is never gona work, id rather them not suffer!

Default The Fish

This is Fish Number 3, this is a very nice fish, which has doubled in girth in the space of 2 weeks!!!

really dont think its pregnant, but i could be wrong!

When turned over you can see a number of blood vessels on the sirface of her skin and the two scales on her side do appear to be lifting.
