Reputation Level: | Blanket weed attack Im a novice fish man but built my 6000l pond 18 months ago with no great problems from blanket weed last summer despite the pond getting a fair bit of sun. I used a blagdon electronic crontroller an was putting nishikoi sachets in weekly which generally kept in under control.
The pond suffered a recent outbreak which is is danger of over whelming my pond which i discovered was due to the electronis device getting disconnected. Its working again now but i cant seem to get back on top of it. i have been looking at adds for various chemicals that claim to clear with quick results. i have also replaced the uv bulb in my pressure filter and was wondering whats the best tatic? |

Before you treat your pond you need to get as much b/w out as possible by hand this will aid in the treatment working and will cause you alot less hassle when it does eventually die off and sink to the bottom to get pulled into you bottom drain or pump. Also be aware that b/w when dead will rot down and produce a sludge which is not pleasant and will use oxygen whilst breaking down. So the more you can rip out first the better m8.
