Hi thanks for replying the stuff I was refering to is from the koi water garden it is called koi clear.I have been told it was supposed to be really good stuff its for wounds and sores.sorry should have explained better (I am new) have you heard of this one?
Just to resurrect this post,,,, i was wondering if anyone knows of any stockists in the Chelmsford(ish) area that stock Koi Clear? Someone that i trust infintely recommended it to treat my Showas tail and i wanted to try it?
That would be great thank-you Dave! Will give you some money or buy you some more whichever is easiest for you. Really want to treat this showa again asap, strange spot/growth on his tail that doesn't look like carp pox, looked for all the world like dermo (according to duncs book anyway, but it can be hard to tell from a picture). Treated it by cutting out the top layer of cyst (contents were like pus from zit), careful not to allow any to touch any other part of koi. Wound then cleaned with hp, roccal, merchurochromed, orahesive and finally sealed with lock n seal. Allowed to dry and koi returned - looked a good job but spot grew back within 2 days spot back! Koi treated similarly a second time but without the hp. Now spot back again after 2 or 3 days, but worried a bit of tail rot setting in now. Can't mess round this time - gotta get it right, so either pp paste in spot and malachite on tail edges or koi clear? Annoying thing is we have done really well with the 1 or 2 koi that have needed treating recently. The chagoi that tried to decapitate itself is 99% healed and the ochiba looks great now too; albeit after about 10 weeks in the hospital vat, in ct and salt, at 27 degrees. So to see this spot grow back on the showas tail within 2 or 3 days of treating it, is really demoralising!
