Default flukes

Hi there I am new and a koi keeper for app 2 years. my fish have been absolutely fine until last week. my white chagoi went a lilac colour and died.
Checked the water PH ammonia etc 7.5 and zero Other fish started jumping and flashing, took advice from Brighouse Koi store and put Fluke M in water. checked readings again. checked tap water reading 7.5. My big boy is swimming as normal, not feeding, and has now a tendency to half roll to one side. any suggestions what else I can do or what the cause may be the pond is app 4500 gallons, changed uv filter bulb. I am so desperate not to lose him. Another indication is that his vibrant red has changed to a paler orange. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

by the sounds of things you have alot of problems with parsites i would of got a scrape done and treat from there as then you will know what you are fighting. i would never go to a store and put something in the pond [treatment] unless i knew what i was treating the big koi you speak about might have a swim bladder problem coupled with the above. a salt bath might help the fella.

fading colours says to me you will find costia and tric but without a scrape you cant be sure and will be chucking money away treating the unknown

Hi Lauren a salt bath can be done for many reasons such as an ulcer, scratch,or infections like swimbladders what you need to do is desolve
3oz of salt per gallon in a tub big enouth that the fish will go in to and make shore it is all desoleved as undesolved salt can burn there belly and finns leave the fish in ther for 10mins ant then trancfer to a nother tub with just pond water befor it is put back in the pond this can be done every other day as long as the fish is not showing any sighns of getting to streesed if you go to your local koi dealer they will supply you with salt but dont get the salt from the supermarket as it has other chemicals in it but i also would highly recomend a scrape is done to see if there is any other parasites on the fish i did the same as you a while back just treated the pond withpout getting a scrape done and i endded up losing 5 fish due to this mistake one i will never make again hope this helps

if you can get the koi to feed try garden peas , the peas pass through the digestive tract , and this is one of the ways koi regulate there swimmbladder , pea's offer very little , in the way of sustanance , but get's the digestive tract working , without overloading the gut or burning to much energy processing the food item .
in some cases this works others not
