Default Koi dying

Hi

I have recently lost three of my fish over a 3 week period. They suddenly become listless and off feed for a day and then I find them dead the following day.
On inspection two of them have had small round lesions on their body and their pectoral fins appear to be worn away / rotted.

They are 10" Israeli fish.

water quality is good (low nitrate and nitrite) and well aerated. The other fish appear fine with no visible signs of fin rot or lesions and are eating as you would expect. I have tried water changes and a variety of antibacterial and anti parasistc medications since i lost the first fish and i am worried it may be a disease I cannot diagnose.

I have added 3 new fish in the last 3 months and one of them was a victim of this mystery.

Hi,

All the water readings are really low as you would expect with the dramatic water changes i have been carrying out. water changed with matured tap water and RO mix 60-40.
I havnt taken a scrape as I wouldnt know what to do or look for.

Lost another two fish this morning. No symptoms and they seemed fine last night.
I have separated the remaining fish into three holding ponds and treating them with a cocktail of treatments. Anti biotics for one. anti parasites for another. anti bacterials in another. Ring the changes and see what happens
They are all eating well until bang.....within 12 hours they seem to die.

Do you have any tricks up your sleeve for getting Royals to feed ??.
I have two youngsters CB that just will not take an interest.
mediums Fluffs pinkies. bashed and hot and warm and soaked in hamster bedding. Not a flicker.....

hi p , raise your ph , as if it's just 7 , you will be getting ph fluc's during the day and night , which will crash your filter's !!!! a constant 7.2 would be perfect but higher would give you a better buffer .
on the royals you could try and place them in a dark tub with holes in it and place the food in there , and leave it for a day or so .
are they cb ,wc ,cf ???? as this will help me . once i know i'l pm you

Hi,

The Royals are CB. 2008.

Checked the PH in the pond and it seems to be fluctuating between 7.2 and 7.6.

Angry Re: Koi dying. Warning

Hello,

Totally messed up by this. I lost another fish today. A 12" ghost. So I decided to do a full autopsy.
I checked all the organs as best i could which all looked a good colour without tumours or swelling that I could tell.
I thought it strange given the time of year that the stomach of the fish was empty.
When i got to the head of the fish to my astonishment, dispair and anger with myself i found 8, yes eight kaldness filter elements jammed in the fish's mouth and throat. This was obviously stopping food and water passing through which i can only sumise caused its death and possibly the deathof the other fish i have lost.
I did change my filter a few months ago and added kaldness under the sponges but a few it would seem were shot into the pond water. Its hard to imagine the fish cannot spit them out as they do with anything else they dont want to eat but I can only put the loss down to this now.
