[img][/img]Hi all,
Â* Â* Â* Â* Â*I netted my Yamabuki today to check a small cut on its head and while in the bucket i noticed what looks to be blood weeping from its scales. What is this and should I be worried and if so how can I treat it, the fish is about a year old and is 10".

hi Jon
you will find some koi bleed from the gills when netted / bowled or bagged, its just down to stress so i would not worry to much about this. But obviously treat the cut on koi head cheers
Richard.
Hi Jon
Ignore my last post as i read yours wrong i,m thought it read blood from gills, which i notice it obviously does not.
This looks like a possible bacteria infection but you need to rule out the obvious first. Are your water readings ok ,ie ph,amnonia and nitrite.
is it possible to get a scrape done on koi to make sure it has no parasite,s
If these are all normal then you need to treat koi with a bacterial treatment ie acriflavine.
Is this the only koi that is showing signs of this cheers Richard ps i,m soory for wrong advice
above will have to make sure i read post properly in future.
