Default KHV Disease

hi...i am in essex(thurrock area) and have lost 14 fish so far, only 3 to go.
does anyone have a cure for KHV!!!
dont want to bore you with details, water was tested daily(perfect conditions),last fish added 3 months ago(after 2 month treatment and quaratine)
fish started showing various signs...treated with everything ,salt at 1/2 oz,then raised to 1 oz a gallon
took a live fish to be examined...found nothing, water also tested again by someone else(perfect),raised water temp. up to 30 c,..my few goldfish, tench and orfes perfect
conclusion........khv unless someone can come up with another idea

i've only been keeping koi for just over 2 years ,am still learning so may be wrong

Have you checked your oxygen levels? Very warm weather lately has sucked alot of oxygen from ponds, streams etc?

Hi, not sure what the problem could be but i would have said if it was oxygen levels too low the orfe would have probably been effected first.

i tested the oxygen levels which were great, but still added 4 extra air blocks incase i was missing something. The fish werent gasping..one day happy, next day at the bottom..day later pox time marks..dead! A few would linger a few days and develop ulcer then..dead!These ones had a strong salt bath, still no good

What volume is your pond? Maybe overstocked? Also have a good look at the filters, how often are you cleaning them?\It could possibly be that you have dead spots that are breeding bad bacteria. Have you had a scrape done, this will probably answer your problem. I know this isn't the answer, but second guessing without looking at the pond and fish will only delay cure.

hi the pond is 3000gal,the filters are for 6000gal and flushed daily..the pond has raised walls in a patio area with a covered "roof"..when the fish started dropping,i eventually tried a 50% water change(dechlor),but this didnt do anything...i took the small fish 6" out into another pond...these slowly died
overstocking....15 small koi
2 20"
1 24"
4 other small(tench,orfe,goldfish)
when i draned have the pond i had a good look couldnt find any patches of broken paint, cracks, things fallen in..there was a nice clean bottom slope to my sump

Hi thereÂ* Â*sad to hear of the losses you are suffering Â* Â* KHV is not an easy thing to diagnose as so many other ailments have similar symptoms. I have found this web page which may be of interest to you as it has a link to CEFASÂ* and may be able to diagnose properly for you the link isÂ* >>> KHV
