Default hikui

Hi guys and gals, desperate for info on treating hikui, my nogami showa has got it bad just behind the head it has steadily got worse over the last two weeks, any ideas would be a great help.

Thanks for that, trouble is water is fine and there doesn't seem to be any treatments, maybe a heavy strike to the head is the only way. I will try to post a pic of it. Thanks again

from what i read quickly is that its undesided if its a worm like thing that attacks the hi of the fish or its a cancer first being the better in a keepers view but if its the second a quick blow would proberly be the best option sorry :'( :'( :'(

Its a pitty but they cant tell us if they are in pain, a friend just told me to try propolis applied neat to the area, what I will do is post a pic of how it is now then after it has had some treatment just incase it works. Cheers m8

Hi-kui is not contagious and as long as the fish is in a clean well kept pool so that no secondary infections occur it is no problem to the overall health of your koi it just does not look very nice so I pesonaly would not kill it although it is not going to win any shows.

If it is an expensive koi you could have the hi-kui surgicaly scraped but I would not try it yourself I would go to a vet. There is also a steroid based cream for treating this but I don't know where to buy it from.
