i was wondering which biological filter media is the best out of alfagrog ,k1 static or k1 aeriated .and will it be of benefit to aeriate alfagrog .and how much media would i need for 3000 gallons much appreciated Â* Â*paul.

I would say k1 aeriated is the best choice, as far as how much you need depends on the volume of your filter
they recommend that you use 50% k1 so if the chamber that you put it in was 100ltrs you would need 50ltrs of k1

In my opinion both are excellent, I use K1 in my filter but there is nothing wrong with alfagrog which is alot cheaper, any biological chamber in your filter will benefit from oxygen. Im not sure what you are doing, but have you considered a fluid bed filter ? |

yes i am consdering a fluid bed filter i have my eye on one at the moment .and im also in the process of making an extra chamber filter for the pond but have very limited space so need to know what the most efficent media is i can use. i would like to have a shower but i would need to borrow some of next doors garden lol. cheers paul

Reputation Level:  | Re: what is better Lol..........I think both will work very well Paul, if you opt for Alfagrog Id put it into onion sacks for easy cleaning as its hard to clean when loose. |
