Hi Paul,
Sounds like fin rot which is a bacterial infection, this is usually a sign that your Koi is stressed.
You need to find out why your Koi is stressed, double check your water parameters, have you changed the enviroment of the pond over the last week or so ?
Sometimes finrot is a secondary infection, the fact that your Koi is lethargic is not a good sign, it could indicate it actually has another problem that has stressed the Koi which has caused finrot.
Is the pond heated or unheated ? are the other Koi lethargic ? what size is this koi? are they in salt at all ?

The fact that he is lethargic in water of that temperature concerns me to be honest.

You need to get a scrape done to find out what is stressing him, salt will help with the finrot, but I dont think thats your main problem.

Id get the scrape done a.s.a.p, could be parasites.

Sorry I cant help any further Paul, Good Luck!

High Nitrite will cause stress and will be why the Koi have developed finrot, this will also make your Koi flash or rub..............Dont feed at all until the nitrite is down to zero.

Good Luck......

i held off the feed since thursday and the nitrite has been coming down over the past couple of nights. just goes to show how inaccurate chemicals can become over time .maybe ill replace all my test chemicals just to be on the safe side. thanks again paul

hi extreme had the scrape done today good news no parasites must be stress from nitrites. would you reccomend treating the fin rot or leave it up to the salt. also is there a chance of the fin growing back or will it stay as it is . thanks again paul
