Being new to this game i havent a clue what they are,in appearance they are creamy coloured and look soft but when i removed the fish from the pond they feel like grissle,very hard,i will post a picture if it works and hope someone can shed some light on the matter, Kind Regards Dob.

thanks both for your replys,they are kept in unheated pond and did notice them appearing in the summer and seemed to calm down for a while,they are growing in size now the biggest being on the tail fin and is a good centimetre in length,i read about salt baths and have tried this for 2 months but to no avail,Best Regards Dob

Hard to tell in pic but looks like it could be carp pox.which is a harmless viral infection which a lot of koi get , normally during the winter, whitish waxy lumps these normally tend to go as the water warms up,take a look at this link and click on small pic and there is a very good pic of a koi with carp pox and let us know if your koi has similar cheers Richard
In my opinion Id say Carp pox looking at your photo and judging by the climate, its nothing to worry about as Ritchie pointed out and theres no cure or need for one, it will go as the water temperature rises.
