so if you turned up at a show with it they'd tell you to naff off???? Hmmm, probably why I don't get on with the idea of 'showing' any animal.
Some years back, I bought a Kohaku from Mike Snadden (Yume Koi) which cost me £100. The markings to my eye were really good, but the reason it was so cheap was because of a 'turn' in the tail. I guess he should know eh?
I guess so, the Koi 'appreciation' is something I learnt a bit about, and on balance the guys that show are chasing dreams, and fair play to them I guess, their money thier dream. I do not care if the Hi does not extend far enough down the face or the fish is not jumbo, I enjoy watching fish with a reasonable pattern, with good shiroji and beni, and thats it, a different take on the "i like it' keeper who will post pics of his koi hoping for the best on various forums, but a million miles away from someone spending 10k for a certificate of best in show, My mrs says there is a free certificate they all need. I would quite happily buy Snadens off casts at a ton a piece.
