Default Shy Fish........

Can any one help Please?
I have recently aquired some Koi from a friend of mine who has retired from koi keeping. The koi are all huddled in the bottom corner of the pond and only comming out when fed. That is with the exception of the chagoi who is staying in the corner and not feeding at all.
Any ideas??:

Ive had the fish in the pond for about a month, just before I put the fish in the pond I upgraded the pond filters with a Bakki shower and a nexus 200 so the water parameters are good.

Are you running the new filter system along side your existing one or have you incorparated some of the old media in the new system ?

Default hi pete

Hi pete , you,ve had them in the pond quite long, sounds weird. Maybe some of the more experienced members can help you out more .The good thing is at least most of them are still feeding. Sounds weird about the chagoi though .soz could,nt help you out more m8.
All the best
Paul

I'm not trying to suggest you haven't considered what follows, but we're all guessing a bit here from the information supplied.

How much time do you spend with the fish and before you, did the person who was giving up the hobby still spend any time with them?

Fish respond to unfamiliar noise or fear of preditors, they will shoal and usually seek deeper water. It may seem daft but what they can see above your pool might still seem strange to them.
If you approach fish on a sunny day, sometimes just your shadow crossing over the pool or being there when you watch them can be enough to spook them. Sometimes a month isn't all that long in new surroundings if the fish had been in the other pool for a few years.

Can you observe them from a distance, say a bedroom window? What are they doing when they think there's nobody around?

Any fish that sulks in a corner or seems to wander aimlessly around the pool in pool may have a problem.

I hope you get it sorted. I'm sure you'll get some more knowledgeable advice.
