Gaz,Were these your own grow on project? If so what size when started?
How long to reach these proportions, must say they look good and well worth the effort.
You’ve got me mate I am getting old I see you looking at my Grey hair at yours last week
Do you think I am losing it and it’s all going downhill now.............na its OK I still have a couple of Go Sanke
I hope I can get one big as they look much better when they are a good size so let’s hope and fingers crossed
Hi O,
Many thanks for the kind words and the growth has been good and I believe as long as we can give the fish the correct conditions and the genetics are there then we have a good chance to grow fish on well. These are from Matsue which is a very good breeder and one I know well as I have a few Matsue fish and have visited the Koi Farm
Well the munters are out and in the main pond now and just under 60cm so they have not done too bad
Nice work Gazza how many Koi did you have in the tank? and is this the only one that got to that size? Do they stay in the tank until they get to that size before you put them in the pond? Sorry about all the questions but want to grow some big ones so need to get a few koi that will get to that size.
Thanks
Shevy

No they are not to do with me where are the pictures from?
Hi Shevy,
So you want to grow on some big fish well that’s easy in the right conditions but keeping them good is another matter: confused:
I normally keep the fish in the tank for about a year normally a bit less and due to the bad weather this year they stayed indoors longer. The koi in the picture as two different Mukashi that I grew on and they was in the tank with three other fish. It’s fairly easy to grow them on to a good size from Tosai but you need a good fish and genetics and most of all good conditions and food and missing any one of the main things has a big impact and you can end up with fat fish or misshaped fish and even the quality can down if they are not kept in spot on conditions.
I think if you’re going to grow some fish on big you may want to move on a few of your other ones fist mate: D
