This Koi is in a 1700 gallon pond. It is filtered by 100 litres of K1, 5 sheets of Jap Mat and I have a homemade Shower fitted to the system, filled with BHM. I also pump 150 liters of air into the system a minute. This Koi shares the pond with 18 other Koi ranging from 12 inches to 20 inches. I feed very heavily about 10 times a day. With a4koi Growth this stuff is the kiddie If You want to grow koi.
I hope I`ve answered everything for you.

Just thought I would show the sumi development this Koi has had since I dropped My pond temperature by a few degrees. It looks as if there is some truth in that cooler water helps to bring sumi out. Sorry about the pic it was just a snap shot of the Showa in the pond. I think You will agree She looks cracking know.

Hi Jono, I dropped down to 12 degrees from 19. I held it there for a four week period. It just goes to show how quick things can change. I am risisng the temps again now, so I can get through this unstable weather with out to many problems.

The Kindai Showa in the picture with it, is from Ogata. This Koi had next to no sumi at all at higher temps, apart from a little in its pecks and a small amount around its mouth. It has also developed Sumi in cooler water, but no where near as Much as the Ogawa fish. Different things for different bloodlines I suppose.
