Paul,

Nice to see you will be popping along - all the way from Wakefield.

The show is in less than two weeks time now and i have been passed details on what to expect at the show. I went to this show last year and it was a fun show run by a friendly bunch of people with many of the clubs hobbyists making their first steps on the showing ladder. To encourage people to go along and support the club and these hobbyists here are the details....

There are 20 vats of hobbyists koi on display for the public to see.

The dealers and dry goods suppliers are Shirley Aquatics, Richdon Koi, The Koi Collection, Messner Pumps, Kusuri Products and the Wooden Koi Company. The same as last year the club has obtained a Pet License so Shirley Aquatics and The Koi Collection will have Koi for sale at the show.

There is a main raffle over the two days:-

First prize is £250 voucher against a koi at the Koi Collection.
Second prize is a £200 voucher for a koi from Richdon Koi.
Third prize is £100 voucher against a koi from Shirley Aquatics.
Fourth prize - still to be confirmed.
Prizes 5, 6 and 7 are a year’s subscription to Koi Carp magazine.

There will also be a raffle for a Sekiguchi Showa as well as the usual Tombola, Drinks and Cake raffles.

I will try to get some pictures of the show build as it progress's next week - but is anyone going to the show? I will see you there no doubt as its only 10mins from my house.

Today i popped into the venue for the Midland Koi Association Koi Show on my way home from work. The team there are working very hard to put on a show for the koi keepers who will visit over the weekend. The high winds of course played Havoc with things like setting up Marquee’s and laying out vats for the centre ring but none the less they worked from about 9am till gone 6pm to get a big chunk of the work done.

Chairman Bob Jacobs laying the vat lines out – Taking care to ensure they are all in the right place and fit for use. He has a great sense of involvement and also working hard to over see the whole build.

Every koi Club has a helper who never seems to stop and instinctively knows what to do. This is one of the MKA’s – Jeff – all round good guy who did a huge amount of work today battleing those winds along with the “marquee team”.

The vats now being in location without getting blown away – 20 of them in all and 19 exhibitors koi will fill these come the weekend.

The water change and wash and rinse vats going together – they even have to have a “dirty” vat for the waste at the show as the drainage is limited.

Pretty much the end of day one – 15 vats all set up and part filled to weight them down, 6 of the 8 marquee’s built up.

I will be calling in again tomorrow to assist if needed and update the forums with a few more picture opportunities.
