I've just bought some wheatgerm food from Mitchkoi.
But I might get some sinking pellets too, but they don't sell them.
Mind you the last lot I bought half of 'em wouldn't sink!

Never use wheatgerm food use the same food all year round.Cant see the point of changing the type of food, if the koi need lower protein just feed less of the usual food. Cheers George
Hi
I use Medikoi Probiotic. My koi are still feeding, but only once or maybe twice a day now. They'll soon stop all together as the water temps continue to fall.
There are many ways in which people feed during the year and at winter temperatures and you just need to find what is best for your fish and set up.
I personally don't feed during the winter and will stop feeding end of Christmas/New Years day time and they don't really get feed till the weather starts to warm up. Now it seems a long while but you have to remember i am still at 21c and the fish are still being fed 12 times a day so the fish go into winter very well fed and in tip top condition (finders crossed).
I had found in the past that feeding to much in the winter or continuing feeding seemed to make a few of the fish mishapped so started trying other ways. If i do look in the pond and they are active i have in the past dropped a few pellets in the pond so they may get the odd pellet
I've always understood that there's a critical temperature below which koi will not feed, nor should you feed them, I was told it was around 47f or just over 8c.
Below 39f or 4c they usually sit on the bottom.
We're getting close to the "non feeding" temp now, but my fish (being Israeli and considered hardier than Japanese) are still feeding well, but I'm feeding them less frequently and smaller amounts.
Having stopped feeding due to a low temperature, the last thing we need to do is to start again if there's a temporary rise in temperature, which will inevitably be followed by a sudden fall.
Any undigested food in their gut "won't do them any good whatsoever."
But I think we still have to be guided by experience, advice and common sense before deciding exact "cut-off" temperatures.
