Another thing I’ve noticed is that Arjun no longer cries when he wakes in the mornings, he’ll happily babble away in his cot – something that’s very different to before we introduced the Gro Clock. As the time passes and reaches your pre-set wake-up time, the stars start to gradually disappear until there are only hearts left and our lovable Ollie the Owl appears awake on a yellow background.

Great review and you must be really delighted to get that extra half am hour sleep – at such small ales 30mins still means a lot! With light summer mornings or changes in time, toddlers get confused knowing when it is time to get up. and the controls just aren’t easier, I feel like you need a bloody degree in the clock just to set it. I think the house move has unsettled Jacob – he would usually sleep without a light, but now asks for a light to be left on in his bedroom. Two hours, a hysterical melt down, the attempt of using the lava lamp, Ewan and the nightlight slide show later, Preetam and I both found ourselves lying on the floor with Arjun in his bedroom to get him to fall asleep.Maintaining the constant routine and gently enforcing the messages in the Sleepy Time book is really helping the child to understand the day doesn’t start at 5am. Simply set the time you would like your child to wake up in the morning and this sleep trainer clock will show the passing of time using colours and symbols. I still have to become more familiar with the Gro Clock, like setting the time for daytime naps at the weekend (BattleKid is in nursery during the week), and later on with setting an audible alarm but so far I’m very impressed with the Gro Clock.

When setting the clock, the face shows a cool relaxing moon face with a series of stars that disappear until the clock is ready to tell the child they may get up.The Gro Clock is silently operated and you have the ability to lock the keys, very important and handy with an inquisitive toddler about! I was apprehensive about whether we’d see any difference in BattleKid at bedtime with him only being 20 months old but it’s made a world of difference at bedtime in a very short space of time. We already have a Gro Egg bedroom thermometer so we know that they are quality products, but did it work with going to bed and getting up? Eaten whole, munched in half, deconstructed with the filling scooped off and of course dipped in tea.

Although it is stated that the Gro Clock is suitable from age 2+ years, we’ve been using it with 20 month old BattleKid and he has responded brilliantly to it. We’ve created this story to help your little one learn all about bedtime so we can take the stress out of sleep for mom and dad. Also included with the Gro Clock is a story book which introduces the Sun and the Star too, and we’ve taken to reading that to BattleKid at night before a second story. The Gro-clock comes with a lovely book which reinforces the clock and the girls really enjoyed listening to me reading it to them whilst we set the clock for the first time. Due to popular request, this 2010 version of the Gro-Clock has a new feature allowing parents to choose whether or not to display the digital clock during the usual ‘stars to sun’ countdown. Although Izzy has been a good sleeper since about 1yr old she had started to wake earlier in the mornings and with a young baby we were all getting pretty worn out.
