What a night for all of us!
But bubble wrap covers and Cloverleaf 1kw heater did their jobs; water underneath is a steady 7.7'c and the snow was 6" all around... note the melted strip on the left; only one layer of bubble wrap there...
Goosey and the ducks weren't too fussed; they have a seperate pond to swim in.... How did everyone get on?

Wildlife pond is under there somewhere, Pond room is nice and cosy inside but a dark and rather steamy as Ive had to ramp up the temp in there recently.
Next chore is to clear the snow off the greenhouse roof and make sure there's enough food for the birds .
There's often some ideal subjects for Christmas Cards when it's like this, isn't there?
Fortunately, that was two years ago!
This morning what little snow we had has started to thaw and it's been raining, but I don't think we've seen the last of the bad weather just yet!
I'm recording 5C at the bottom of my pool. I say that as I've an aquarium thermometer permanently in the header tank of my filter system.
How accurate are these is anyone's guess.
The problem I have every year is the frogs trying to over winter in my pump sump. They are either getting under the pool cover and swimming down to the bottom drain and up that way, or were already in the pool hiding in the folds of the liner in the corners. They've been doing it for over 20 years.
I say it's a problem, well it is for them, as I chuck any out (well remove them) every time I purge the sump.

I don't like them myself, they're pretty bad,
