Just been watching Countryfile and the forecast was 10C from Wed
Up here the BBC forecast says, between +8C and +6C Wednesday, +8C and +7C Thursday and +10C and +6C Friday.
Better look out my shorts.
Just been down to the fridge in our tea-house for a beer, (I keep 'em down there to "control my alcohol consumption," I have to make the effort to get out of a chair and walk down there).
It's about +3C in the garden according to my max/min thermometer on the garage wall.

It's been around 10C for a couple of days but my pool with the cover and the 300watt heater, has only risen to 8C. Shows how slowly the water responds. But I expect a slow but progressive trend in increased pool temperature from now on.
Local temperatures are forecast to be about 10C for another couple of days, then down to 5C Saturday but returning to 10C for Sunday and Monday.
But I don't think we're rid of the bad weather just yet.

I've returned to this thread as I've a lot of spare time today, as my two partners have just cried off playing in a golf competition qualifying round as it's chucking it down and as I've already qualified I'm not bothered, but it would have been a "game" if you understand what I'm saying.
I think we're past the worst of the bad weather and my pool temperature has climbed to nearly +9C so I may put the little heater back on timer.
But here's a "winter story" that I recalled during a conversation the other week.
Back in the late sixties when I was in my twenties, I worked in Worcester and I my wife and family had a house on the side of the Great Malvern.
It was one of six on either side of a farm lane that went up to the main road which goes round the middle of one side of the hill. The gradient was 3 in 13.
The winters could be pretty bad, with snow drifts. I awoke one morning to nearly two feet of snow. I'd taken the precaution of parking my car in a lane just of the main road on the high side. I put on my boots and walked up to the main road but found the snow had drifted over my car.
So I started to walk down the road which had seen a few cars, towards Malvern station. After a few minutes I could hear this clanking sound behind me. I turned to see a little A35 coming down the road with chains on the wheels.
The driver stopped and offered me a lift, which I gratefully accepted.
"Where are you going?" he said.
"I'm going to the station, I was hoping to catch the 8.30am train, but that's doubtful now."
"Oh, you'll catch it."
"Are you sure?"
"I hope so, I'm the driver."
